Montana’s
Glacier National Park has become a much desired destination for
many tourists. We invite you to consider Glacier Heli Tours, offered
by Minuteman Aviation, Inc., as part of your vacation.
The flight
is a breathtaking view over a million acre geologic park, of which
only a fraction of its awesome terrain and beauty may be seen
by road and trail. Our helicopter tours are a special opportunity
for elderly and handicapped tourists, who are not physically able
to hike the trails. So very little of the Park is actually seen
from the road. Children of all ages are welcome to enjoy this
experience.
We
offer one hour tours and half hour tours. The one hour tour encompasses
the entire Park. The tour begins by taking you up the east side
of the Continental Divide to the Canadian border to Waterton Park,
then down the west side of the Continental Divide back to West
Glacier. The half hour tour gives you a very good cross section
of Glacier Park enabling you to view the Park’s major glaciers
and lakes.
We use Bell Jet Ranger
and Long Ranger helicopters. The Jet Ranger holds (4) tourists
and the Long Ranger holds (6) tourists. Headsets are provided
to listen to the classical music and the pilot’s brief narrations.
Prices for
each tour length are based on the number of passengers onboard
at the time. We recommend making reservations a few days in advance.
This is the best option for sharing the tour with other people
and keeping the tour price at its minimum.
Our chalet
style office is located a half mile south of the town of West
Glacier, Montana on U.S. Highway 2. We are on the west side of
the highway, or across the highway from the Vista Motel. Our main
tour season is from May 1st through September 30th. Our tour hours
are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Mountain Time, seven days a week,
including holidays. During our off season (after September 30th
and before May 1st), our available tour hours and days vary. During
that time period, reservations are a must. We also have rental
cars on site. Our car rentals are an added convenience for those
arriving by train or RV travelers, as RV’s are not allowed
to go up the Going to the Sun Road.
Our
2008 tour season will end on September 30th. We will begin touring
again in the spring as soon as the weather permits.
