Welcome to Glacier Heli Tours
Montana's Glacier National Park has become a much desired destination for many tourists. We invite you to consider Glacier Heli Tours, as part of your vacation.
The flight is a breathtaking view over a million acre geologic park, of which only a fraction of its awesome terrain and beauty may be seen by road and trail. Our helicopter tours are a special opportunity for elderly and handicapped tourists, who are not physically able to hike the trails. So very little of the Park is actually seen from the road. Children of all ages are welcome to enjoy this experience.
We offer one hour tours and half hour tours. The one hour tour encompasses the entire Park. The tour begins by taking you up the east side of the Continental Divide to the Canadian border to Waterton Park, then down the west side of the Continental Divide back to West Glacier. The half hour tour gives you a very good cross section of Glacier Park enabling you to view the Parks major glaciers and lakes.
We use Bell Jet Ranger and Long Ranger helicopters. The Jet Ranger holds (4) tourists and the Long Ranger holds (6) tourists. Headsets are provided to listen to the classical music and the pilots brief narrations.
Prices for each tour length are based on the number of passengers onboard at the time. We recommend making reservations a few days in advance. This is the best option for sharing the tour with other people and keeping the tour price at its minimum.
WE ARE CLOSED FOR THE SEASON AND WILL RE-OPEN AT THE END OF MAY, WEATHER PERMITTING
Our History
Minuteman Aviation, Inc. has been in business for 35 years. It was started in 1964 by Jerry Mamuzich. Jerry used helicopters and fixed wing aircraft to support the Minuteman Missile Construction Project. Jerry actually started this work in 1961 as part owner of Pondera Flying Service, Inc., which is a fixed base operation (FBO) and aerial application business at Conrad, Montana. Jerry is still its' owner and president.
Minuteman Aviation, Inc. supported the Minuteman Missile Construction Project from 1961 to 1970 flying for the construction contractors, Boeing, Army Corp of Engineers, SATAF (the military management team), Air Force, and Government and political representatives from Omaha and Washington, D.C. This work was performed at Great Falls, Montana, Rapid City, South Dakota, Cheyenne, Wyoming, Minot, North Dakota, Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Conrad, Montana. This was done on a year around schedule, using remote landing locations at the missile sites and in weather conditions which taxed skill and capabilities to the fullest. Average flying time per aircraft was 100 hours per month the year around.
After the Minuteman Missile Projects were done, Minuteman Aviation continued to operate on Government contracts, including the ABM (Anti-Ballistic Missile) Construction at Conrad, Montana, for the Army Corp of Engineers. This project was scrapped after one year due to an agreement which President Nixon signed with Russia.
Minuteman Aviation did extensive flying for the USGS mapping the Rocky Mountain overthrust belt for oil and gas exploration, which was all mountain flying in all kinds of weather.
